About Mary


Mary Macfarlane of Lothian & Borders Bowen  
is passionate about the fact that her integrated approach can be used  bring about lasting change, reduce pain and improve functionality.

Living in the Midlothian countryside near the boundary of  the Scottish Borders, Mary is now able to offer appointments  at various clinics in the  Borders and Edinburgh. 

Mary continues to furthering her knowledge by learning advanced techniques from expert teachers of Bowen & Emmett from around the world. 

In September 2013 Mary travelled to Sarajevo  to work with survivors of the Bosnian war using Bowen, Emmett Technique and Healing.

Mary's primary focus when using the Bowen & Emmett Technique is  working with the whole person to bring about improvements in pain levels and day to day functioning, assisting  the body's own healing process.

Fully insured and trained by European College of Bowen Studies, Mary is a Member of the Bowen Professional Therapy Association and a Member of the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council.

Mary trained as a Person Centred Counsellor in 1993, has an ITEC Diploma in Anatomy & Physiology as well as a First Aid at Work certificate

In addition to working in Edinburgh and the Borders as a Bowen & Emmett Technique Practitioner,  Mary also volunteers  
with the Borders Healing Group and the Healing Hands Network.
